Fabrice Hyber and Yves Saint Laurent Beauté

Fabrice Hyber, one of the most inventive and most influential artists of his generation, very naturally turned to Yves Saint Laurent Beauté to design his work entitled “1m3 de Beauté”, a majestic cubic meter of lipstick created using the substance of iconic Rouge Pur Couture N°1, the lipstick for heroines.

A vibrant homage to the artistic inspirations that have marked the spirit of the House of Saint Laurent, from Van Gogh to Andy Warhol to Mondrian, Matisse, Braque and Picasso. A tribute that once again underscores closeness with the arts that continues to nurture and inspire Yves Saint Laurent Beauté.

“1m3 de Beauté”… the temptation to place the raw material of lipstick on another scale is a risk I’m taking for the length of an exhibition. This exceptional moment helps give consistency to matter and makes us realize that even out of scale, lipstick retains its potency. My first tableau was 1m2 of lipstick, 1981, combining the rational and the irrational, the measure of beauty… Here, I needed premium matter for a 3-D creation… Color together with the scent of Rouge Pur Couture N°1 lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent Beauté are diffused by the sculpture and go well beyond the impression of a simple kiss.” Fabrice Hyber
